of Neurodivergent Children Aged 5-10
EPIC Think Learn has received a grant from the Scottish Government to provide fully funded resources and support sessions to 1,000 parents of primary-aged children who are on the pathway to a neurodivergent diagnosis. If a parent signs up, their class teacher will also receive fully funded (free) access to EPIC Think Learn’s 12-month professional learning program, worth over £1,000.
EPIC Think Learn is a Community Interest Company (a type of social enterprise), meaning that any surplus we generate is reinvested into developing and improving support for families and teachers.
EPIC began as a research project at the University of Edinburgh, where our resources were co-designed and evaluated in partnership with parents, teachers and clinicians. Our founders, Professor Sinead Rhodes and Dr Iona Beange, continue to lead research to ensure everything we provide is research-informed, current and shaped by the needs of families and educators.
Who can take part?
Parents may be eligible if they:
• Have a child aged 5–10 who is on the pathway to a neurodivergent diagnosis, such as ADHD, autism, DCD/dyspraxia or FASD.
• Have a child with the cognitive ability to take part in the programme.
• Live in one of Scotland’s 20% most deprived areas or in a rural community.
• Have not previously taken part in EPIC Think Learn’s paid programme. (Parents who have only accessed our free resources remain eligible.)
Parents will receive 12 months access to:
• Practical guides, videos and audio with a focus on executive functions (thinking skills)
• Live expert-led webinars and recordings.
• Live topic-based peer support sessions and a moderated online parent community
• Regular new content and updates.
Teachers will receive 12 months access to:
• Eight on-demand CPD webinars covering EPIC’s neurodiversity-affirming approach, attention, memory, inhibition, self-regulation, timing and organisation.
• A program of live webinars on a range of topics such as PDA, FASD, DCD and Maths learning. (recordings will also be available).
• Whole-class teaching resources, including lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations and pupil booklets that help all children understand attention, memory, planning and organisation. While designed with neurodivergent learners in mind, these resources benefit all pupils.
• Regular email updates highlighting new resources, webinars and practical classroom strategies.
